Scalecoat Thinners
Choose Scalecoat thinner by the product you are thinning, then select the bottle size that suits your workbench. This collection includes dedicated Scalecoat I and II paint thinners, Sanding Sealer Thinner and Universal Leveling Thinner. These products have different intended uses and should not be treated as interchangeable solvents.
Which thinner do you need?
- Scalecoat I Thinner: for the Scalecoat I paint line, used for brass and metal model projects.
- Scalecoat II Thinner: for the Scalecoat II paint line, used for plastic models.
- Sanding Sealer Thinner: for Scalecoat Sanding Sealer only.
- Universal Leveling Thinner: for other compatible solvent-based hobby paints. It is not intended for Scalecoat I or II paints.
Adjust paint gradually and test your setup
Mix the paint thoroughly before adding thinner, then add the appropriate product gradually and test the application. The amount needed depends on the paint, equipment and intended method. Follow the bottle label rather than assuming one thinning ratio works for every color and spray setup.
The source range includes 1 oz, 2 oz and 32 oz dedicated paint thinner listings. Check the current listing for size and availability. Use separate mixing pipettes and jars to keep liquids organized. For equipment cleanup, choose Airbrush Cleaner; cleaner and model paint remover serve different jobs from paint thinner.
