Find Scalecoat model paint for locomotive repaints, freight car lettering projects, passenger equipment and detailed scale models. This collection brings together the Scalecoat I and II paint ranges, including named railroad colors, general modeling colors, metallics, primers and clear finishes. Start with the color you need, then confirm the paint line and part number before ordering.
Choose the paint system before the color
Scalecoat I is the line for brass and metal projects, while Scalecoat II is the line for plastic models. Similar color names can appear in both ranges. Check the individual listing for the bottle size and listed finish, and use the matching dedicated Scalecoat thinner. Universal Leveling Thinner is not intended for Scalecoat paints.
Select a color for your specific model
Railroad names help narrow a paint search, but a railroad may have used several colors, paint schemes and revisions. Compare the named color and part number with your project reference rather than treating every color carrying a railroad name as interchangeable. Mix the bottle thoroughly and evaluate a cured sample under your layout or display lighting.
